Motivation
As the technology that makes our lives better and easier progresses, the technology that surveils us progresses as well. Maybe you think that you shouldn’t care since you’re a stellar citizen, but you definitely should. Even if you don’t care about your own privacy, you should care about how much you pay for insurance.
Telemetry/telematics systems have became increasingly difficult to disable or bypass as more functions are pushed closer to critical components like the infotainment, emergency response, and audio systems. The E210 Corolla (Sedan) is one of the newest Toyota vehicles where it is relatively safe and “easy” to disable telemetry being sent to Toyota & Friends.
What is my project??
I’ve developed a system that uses a pair of microcontrollers to selectively forward packets to prevent telemetry being sent home while keeping everything else functioning fine.
